Privacy notice
Last updated 25 October 2026.
This notice is for the OpenMyDrawing app for Android, from Google Play. The app shows our service at app.openmydrawing.com full screen, in the browser on your phone that it runs in (usually Chrome). Nothing is sold in the app.
In short
- Your file is deleted as soon as it has been opened, and the pages drawn from it within 1 hour. It is never used for AI training, and it is processed in the EU.
- No accounts, no cookies, no advertising, no tracking scripts; the server counts visits only as totals.
- Your measurements stay on your phone.
The controller of your personal data is Luka Ehitus OÜ, established in Estonia, contact support@openmydrawing.com. The details below say what we process, why, on what legal basis (the article of the EU General Data Protection Regulation, GDPR) and for how long.
Files you open
When you open a DWG, DXF or PDF file, it is sent over an encrypted connection to our server in the EU. There it is opened in a separate, short-lived process with no network access, which turns it into the image you see, and then ends.
- The file you upload is used for that one request. While the request runs it is held in the server's memory; a file larger than 1 MB is first written to a temporary file on the server's disk. The process that reads the file keeps its own temporary copies (for a DWG, also the DXF made from it) in a private temporary folder. All of these are deleted when the request ends.
- The image of a drawing or page you are viewing, with its layer names and the points measuring snaps to, is kept in the server's memory so that switching between them is quick. It is deleted 55 minutes after it was made, and a check every minute makes sure of that.
- We do not look at your files, share them, or use them to train AI or any other model.
An IFC model is opened only in the app, on your phone. It is never sent to our server.
Legal basis: providing the service you asked for (Art. 6(1)(b)).
Measurements and storage on your phone
Measurements, prices and settings are stored only in the app's own storage on your phone (the browser's storage for app.openmydrawing.com, apart from the website's) and in project files you choose to download. We do not receive them.
If you drop a file on one of our tool pages, or share one with the app from another app (Share, then OpenMyDrawing), it is handed to the page that opens it through that storage (IndexedDB). It never goes to our server this way. A shared file opens only once you tap its name. The page that opens a file deletes it from that storage straight away. A file that was not opened within 10 minutes is never used; it stays on your phone until the next time a file is handed on this way, or until you clear the site's data in Chrome (below). A 3D model shared with the app is refused and not kept.
The drawing open in the app is kept in that same storage, with the page and view you were on, so that a reload, going Back or pulling the page down to refresh opens it again. Opening the viewer any other way only offers it (Resume), and nothing of it is shown or sent until you choose it. It never goes to our server this way; opened again, it is sent to be drawn as when you first opened it. Opening another drawing replaces it, and Close drawing (under More) deletes it, with what you measured on it and your notes. Once you close the app, the first page of it you open 30 minutes or more later deletes it.
An IFC model you open is also kept in that storage on your phone, with what the 3D viewer made of it, so that it opens again quickly and without the file; the app still needs an internet connection to open. It is kept on your phone only and never reaches our server. The 3D viewer lists what is kept ("Kept on this phone") with the size of each model: Delete removes one and Delete all removes every one. At most 500 MB is kept; to make room for a new model, the models opened longest ago are deleted. Your phone may also delete them when it is short of space.
To delete it yourself: Delete or Delete all under "Kept on this phone" in the 3D viewer removes kept models, Close drawing (under More) removes the open drawing, and clearing the stored data of app.openmydrawing.com in Chrome (Settings, Site settings, All sites, app.openmydrawing.com) removes all of it. Uninstalling the app does not delete it by itself: Chrome may offer to clear the site's data when you uninstall it, and only then does it go.
Protection against abuse
To keep the service working for everyone, the server limits how many requests each IP address can make in a minute. These counts are kept only in memory and forgotten within minutes.
The server logs the time and address of each request it receives, with the IP address for requests to its API. When a file cannot be opened, it logs only the type of error, never the file's contents or name. Logs are deleted after 30 days. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure and working (Art. 6(1)(f)).
Visit counts
The server counts how the app is used, as totals only, apart from the website's: per day, pages viewed (per page and its language), requests for pages that do not exist (one number, without the address), and drawings sent to the server to be opened (per file type, the page they were opened from, and whether the server drew them or refused them; a drawing counts once the server has drawn it, even if the page is then cancelled, and IFC models, which open only on your phone, are not counted); per month, the countries visitors come from. For counting, the IP address is used only to look up the country at the moment of the request, in a country database kept on our server (IP Geolocation by DB-IP, licensed under CC BY 4.0), and is not stored by the counting (the server logs described above are separate); the user agent is checked at that moment only to leave out search engine robots, and is not stored either. No cookies are used, nothing is read from or stored on your phone for counting, and there is no visitor identifier, so the totals cannot tell whether two visits came from the same person. The totals are aggregated: countries are kept per month only, and our reports show a country with fewer than five visits in a month only as "other". The totals are kept for as long as the service runs. Legal basis: legitimate interest in knowing whether the service works and is used (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).
Email to us
If you write to us, we keep your message and our answer for three years after the matter is closed, to handle it and to show later that we did. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in answering you (Art. 6(1)(f)). Email to support@openmydrawing.com is received by Cloudflare Email Routing, run by Cloudflare, Inc. (US) as our processor, which passes it on to our own mailbox. Cloudflare says it does not store or read the content of the emails it passes on; it keeps a log of each message (sender, recipient, subject, time, and whether it was passed on), which we can see. Transfers rely on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and the European Commission's standard contractual clauses in Cloudflare's data processing addendum.
Who else receives data
- Hetzner (Hetzner Online GmbH, Germany): the service runs on a server we rent from Hetzner in its data centres in Germany, so your files, the data above and the logs are processed there. Hetzner provides the machine as our processor and does not use what is on it.
- Cloudflare (Cloudflare, Inc., US): receives email sent to our support address and passes it on to us, as described under Email to us. It is also the registrar of our domain and answers the name lookups (DNS) that lead the app to our server. Your connection to the service does not go through Cloudflare.
- Google (Google LLC and its affiliates): you get the app from Google Play, and it usually runs in Chrome. Google processes what Google Play and Chrome need to install, update and run the app, as a controller in its own right, under Google's privacy policy, not on our instructions. Google Play Console shows us statistics about the app, such as the number of installs by country and Android version, ratings and reviews, and, if your phone is set to share them, reports of crashes; none of them names you or gives us your contact details.
We do not sell or share data with anyone else, and nothing is used for advertising, profiling or automated decisions about you.
Cookies and storage on your phone
We set no cookies and use no analytics scripts or advertising trackers; visits are counted on the server only as totals, as described under Visit counts. The app uses its storage on your phone only for what it needs, as described above. How to delete it is described under Measurements and storage on your phone.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your personal data, and for it to be corrected or deleted. You can ask us to restrict its use, object to its use for our legitimate interests, and get the data you gave us in a portable form. Write to support@openmydrawing.com; we answer within one month. You can also complain to the Estonian Data Protection Inspectorate (Andmekaitse Inspektsioon, aki.ee) or to the data protection authority where you live.
You do not have to give us any personal data to view or measure files.
Changes
We update this notice when what we process changes, before the change takes effect, and show the date at the top.
